Power System Studies

Coalmont can provide power system software studies using advanced analysis software such as ETAP or WinIGS. Software models and analysis can be used to predict and design system parameters. System information can be gathered and entered using a one-line format to generate drawings and perform simulations. The results can be used to make design recommendations and drawings for capacity, ratings, equipment selection, transformers, ground studies, protection, backup and other important power system considerations. WinIGS can perform non linear analysis for difficult calculations such as transients and stray voltages.

Substation Design

Coalmont can design complete substations or provide improvements to existing installations. Projects can include drawings only or equipment with commissioning. In many cases, custom equipment can be designed and built to provide model solutions with the bulk existing gear.

Grounding Studies

We have the capability to perform testing and analysis to design ground fields and protection for system grounds. Projects can include grids, neutral ground resistors and protection devices.

Protective Relay Design

We have installed numerous motor and power system relays that provide for additional communication and protective schemes in existing systems. We can also design new wiring harnesses and determine parameters for new relay upgrades or additions. We can add new computer based relays to provide trending and logging to make it easier to locate process problems and provide data for production improvements.

Custom Protection and Controls

Many times, customer systems demand a completely unique protection scheme and control. Coalmont can supply a special design if needed. Interfacing and obsolete parts often require additional engineering and special sizes to fit.

New Energy Systems

Many new sources and types of energy are being developed. New distribution methods are also being implemented due to the very large demand and changes in supply. Because of our flexible setup and ability to provide custom systems, Coalmont is positioned to help deliver new electrical power controls to the market for emerging solutions.

Dynamic Energy Storage

Coalmont can help install or develop new energy storage ideas which can alleviate many power system issues as the electrical load increases. Energy storage can greatly increase the efficiency of new sources as well as the old system and distribution.
